Maintenance and Inspection of Gears and Splines

A damaged surface of the gear includes the wears of the gear surface, gear top, gear center hole, spline; gear surface fatigue off, spots; in severe cases, there can be gear broken, crushing and so on.

1. When the gear surface appears obvious fatigue spots, scratches or stepped wear, it should be replaced; if spots are small, after grinding by whetstone, the gear can be continued use.

2. The wear length of gear surface must not exceed 15% of the gear length, otherwise it should be replaced.

3. The engaging surface of the gear should be in the middle gear height, and the contact area should not less than 60% of the gear surface.

4. The gaps between gears, gear and shaft as well as spline should comply with the provisions of the original factory.
