How Did Transmission Shift Failure Occur?

Did you ever encounter the situation that the shift lever itself shifted back to the neutral gear in driving? This phenomenon possibly took place in the case that having the sudden load changes or strong vibration when driving in the medium or high speeds, and mostly the skip-shift happened in the high speed gear.

Causes of the transmission shift failure:

1. Due to the excessive wear of the gears, gear housing or synchronizer teeth, it creates an axial thrust when they meshed, and is further affected by the inertia effect of shaking and rotational speed change, forcing the meshing gears axially disengaged.

2. The gear shift lever was bent and deformed, the part wear was too much, the fixing screw was loose etc., so that the gear couldn’t be engaged normally.

3. Self-locking device worn and loosed, as well as the spring elasticity was poor or broken, resulting in insufficient locking force, so that the shift forks couldn’t be reliably positioning. See more...
